Examples of our work
Community Food Security Project
Challenge: High food insecure population, limited healthy local food choices, larger center 150 km away.
What we did: Community stakeholder engagement, secured $200,000 funding to support labour, training and capital infrastructure needs.
Project Outcome: 2 grow tunnels were installed to grow vegetables. 2 local community members were trained and employed, 1000 pounds of food produced and distributed, and through the awareness of the community garden program there was increased interest from community members to actively grow food in their yards.
Community Climate Impact Health Assessment
Challenge: Community memebers noticed a loss in traditional foods such as Saskatoon berries and diseased wild meats
What we did: Conducted a climate impact health assessment that included community engagement to determine how traditional foods are being affected
Outcome: In the process of developing a community-wide plan for action
Travel and Tourism Industry
Challenge: High energy costs for boutique resort
What we did: Assessed energy usage, developed a plan that utilized energy efficient products, developed a communication strategy to build customer awareness.
Outcome: Reduced energy costs by 25% and annual energy bills by $5000
Small Business Restaurant
Challenge: Target market had high requests for non-local and unsustainable foods. Concern for customer satisfaction requests and ratings
What we did: Collaborated with local food suppliers, provided training and marketing communication campaigns through local organizations to target customer relations
Outcome: Communication campaign build awareness for the target market and there were minimal requests for non local foods. Food costs were reduced by 15% and 5 star customer satisfaction rating maintained.
