Episode #19 with Michelle Brass from the Sustainable Health and Wellness Leaders (SHAWL) program

Michelle Brass is a speaker, writer, health and wellness coach, and entrepreneur deeply committed to the health and well-being of Indigenous peoples and communities. Her work is focused on the areas of Indigenous food sovereignty, Indigenous health and wellness, personal healing and transformation, and community well-being.

Michelle delivers presentations, programs and workshops that help people create health and healing in their lives so they can become the leaders we need to create a strong future for our families and communities.

She is also the creator of the SHAWL Program, a health and wellness program that leads people to become Sustainable Health and Wellness Leaders (SHAWL), and eventually SHAWL Certified Facilitators within their communities. The program addresses the aspects of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, rooted in an Indigenous approach to community well-being, and leads participants to understand the direct relationship between the health and healing of our people to the health and healing of Mother Earth, and vice versa.

Michelle is also on the Steering Committee for Indigenous Climate Action, a national organization that inspires action for climate justice by supporting Indigenous communities to develop Indigenous-led solutions to climate change and ensuring that Indigenous voices and knowledge are the forefront.

Michelle is a proud member of the Yellow Quill First Nation (Saulteaux/Anishnaabe) and resides on Peepeekisis First Nation in Treaty Four Territory in Saskatchewan, Canada with her husband and son.
